Fellow photographers,

I love to share information with you and help each other out, so here are a few things I have found lately. First some videos then some links to other photographer's blogs!

Joe Photo and the folks at WPPI (for those of you who don't know they host the biggest trade show and convention for wedding photographers) made these funny videos check them out!

Here is the first one which sets up the second one (if you only have time for one start with the funniest episode 2)

And my favorite one Episode 2: "Diary of a Washed Up Rock Star Wedding Photographer"
There are so many things that made me laugh in this episode from the total studio/print lab jokes to his washed up feelings, and one of my favorite parts is the lighting master Gary Fong appearance. Too funny! Gary Fong changed wedding photography in so many ways! One of his biggest contributions to the field and he continues to give is his revolutionary flash diffusers, check them out. Mine is on its way soon. I can't wait!

So besides Joe Photo and others already mentioned here are some helpful links for photographers.
You simply must check out the [b] school! It was created by Becker, a successful wedding photographer from Southern California. His [b] school was created for photographers to give tips and share ideas. Check out the blog for daily advice!

Jessica Claire is another unbelievable wedding photographer from Southern California! Check out her website and her blog! And she even created a new bag for photographers, called the ShootSac, its great for weddings and photojournalism work. You carry your lenses in a comfortable lightweight back that fits against your body, so you don't have to carry the heavy bulky bag around with you on the whole shoot, or run back to the bag when you need to switch lenses. I have had mine since the fall and I love it!

And for a daily dose of inspiration and heart, check out the blog of lovely and talented Jasmine Star! Her writing will bring tears to your eyes and her photography will capture your heart and soul! Also check out more of her work on her website. And her new website with a couple other California photographers, J'Adore Details, "is a wedding website designed to offer industry insight from professional photographers."

Thank you to all of these people for giving me inspiration. Though I have yet to meet any of them in person. Each of them have helped me and my business grow. Thank you so much. Though I am unable to attend WPPI this year and meet you all I look forward to meeting you sometime in the future.

For other photographers you still have time to make last minute travel plans to Vegas for WPPI and to meet some of these all stars! Good luck to you all, I hope these links help you as much as they have helped me. If you have others I left out, please share!

Coming in the next couple weeks, two engagement sessions in Colorado, one mini engagement session in snowy Chicago suburbs, and vacation photos from a secret place!

NEW BLOG

After struggling with posting some photos a few weeks ago, I decided to go with a new blogging service. Hopefully easier posting will entice me to get into the habit of regularly posting. So for anyone that has this address (Melissa probably just you. hehe) please change to

Thank you for your interest!

Carolyn Trash The Dress 10/21/07

A group of female photographers, Females in Focus, (go to http://digcam.meetup.com/157/ for more about our group) got together this past Sunday for a Trash Bash! We could not have asked for a better late October day! The weather was perfect, blue skies, lots of sunshine, and very warm. And although the water was a little cold it was not unbearable and no one had seemed to mind, it was all for the sake of great photos-oh just watch out for the prickly burrs when barefoot.

It was great to be surrounded by such great photographers and beautiful models. I begun my day photographing Carolyn and since there where so many I have just included her in this post, I will try to post some of Melissa in a following post. Thank you so much to both girls, they were amazing. And thank you to Gina of Imaginative Studios for forming the group and planning the wonderful event. Here are my favorites of Carolyn from the day (there are also a couple more I am holding and editing for the launch of my new site)

As we walked down to the beach we stopped on the steps...

Carolyn stops to fix her boots before hitting the sand...

It sure was windy, but we never needed a wind fan for a sexy hair blowing in the wind look...

Testing the chilly waters, and slowly getting in deeper, once Carolyn was in it was hard to get her out of the water, even with shivers she wanted to get back in. She is truly a top model, and she will make a beautiful bride!

And in the end we were all wet and covered in sand-well at least I was, I don't think I realized I would trash my jeans in the process. :) Thank you to all the other photographers for the great experience and once again thank you to the models Melissa and Carolyn you two were so beautiful and the best models a photographer could ask for!

I'm Back

...or only just begun. Okay so I have many blogs for you all, and through out the next week I will try to catch everyone up on what I have been doing in the last few weeks or so.

There has been a couple engagement shoots, a couple trash the dress sessions and some newspaper assignments including a fatal car accident on my street (did not know the people involved).

I am also putting the finishing touches on my new wedding website, tinajeanweddings.com and hope to have the official launch November 1st. I may save some of the images from the shoots for the launch but I will give you a preview of each shoot.

While I wait until "my editor" to get home and help me narrow down the last shoot so its not 30 image long post here's a sneak peek from yesterday's Trash the Dress. (Oh I am working backwards on the blog, so engagement shoots are coming, I promise-I know Eric and Jenny got a sneak peek already)
